Yiming Yao

Yao studied Snare Drum and Drum Set from 5 years old. He started to study classical percussion performance with Shaolun Chen in Shanghai from 2014. Yao was accepted by New England Conservatory in 2016 for his Bachelor of music and studied with Frank Epstein, Daniel Bauch, and Matthew McKay. In 2020, Yao was accepted by Mannes Conservatory, and Glen Velez will be his studio teacher.

• Second Prize Winner of the Marimba

• Second prize Winner of the Snare Drum and the Second Prize Winner of the Drum Set in the Tokyo International Competition

• First prize in marching percussion in the 5th National Drummer Competition

Recitals

In 2015, he had two recitals in Dalian in China.

In 2018, he had three percussion duo recitals with his friend in Liaoning Province, Guang Zhou, and Shen Zhen.  

In 2020, he had his graduate recital at New England Conservatory.
