Lywon Yeo

PQ Master Piano Faculty

International Piano Competition Winner

Born in 1990 in South Korea, she began playing piano at age five. She graduated from Yewon Arts School in Seoul and Seoul Arts High school with Achievement Award under Tong-Il Han and Minsook Chun. Lywon Yeo completed her Bachelor’s degree at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea with excellence academic scholarship in three years under the tutelage of her first Professor Kyungsook Lee, who won the prize at the Geneva International Competition.

Then she moved to Germany to continue her study at Universität der Künste Berlin (UDK) with Professor Pascal Devoyon, prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky, Leeds, and Busoni International Competitions. She also studied in Austria, holding her Master’s degree with outstanding grades, and got the highest score in her thesis on "R. Schumann Faschingsschwank aus Wien Op.26". She graduated the last Postgraduate course as a performer in Austria from the Mozarteum Universität in Salzburg with many scholarships. Her significant teachers in Austria include Professor Klaus Kaufmann and Professor Pietro De Maria, Winner of the Geza Anda International Competition and prizewinner in the Tchaikovsky International Competition.

After her studies in Europe, Lywon moved to the United States. At the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) she completed her Artist Diploma with a full scholarship and graduate assistantship(GA) in 2022 spring under Professor Soyeon Kate Lee. An accomplished pianist, she is a laureate in numerous national and international competitions.

In Korea, she has won Grand Prize and the Korea Governor's Award at the Nanpa Hong Music Competition, 1st Special prize at the Teenager Piano Competition, 1st prize at the Haneum Piano Competition, 1st prize at Korea Piano Society Piano Competition, prizewinner at the Seoul Chamber music Competition, Korea Journal Piano Competition, and the Music Educational Journal Competition.

Globally, including being selected as a scholar at the CLAVARTE Swiss International Scholarship Foundation Berlin in Germany, she has won 2nd prize at the Mozarteum Concerto Competition, and 2nd prize at the Cincinnati CCM Concerto Competition. And she achieved her triumph as the 1st prize winner and Special Baroque prize of the Città di San Donà di Piave International Competition in Italy, 1st prize at the Propiano International Competition in Spain, and 1st prize and special prize at the Las Conchillas International Competition in Chile, received an honorable mention in the San Francisco Artciál International Piano Competition.

Ms. Yeo is noted for her wide repertoire, ranging from baroque to contemporary composers. She has played recitals in prestigious venues including Seoul, Sejong, Suwon in Korea, Courchevel in France, Madrid in Spain, Berlin in Germany, Salzburg in Austria, and extensively in the United States.
