Dr. Wang

PQ Online  Flute Faculty

Dr. Danqi Wang has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, orchestra performer, and flute educator throughout China and the United States. Ms. Wang earned a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in flute performance from Texas Tech University, where she served as a Teaching Assistant at TTU flute studio. In 2017, she earned a Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance from Texas Christian University. She also completed a Performance Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. While at CMU, she studied with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s principal flutist Ms. Lorna McGhee was a member of the Atlantic Flute Quartet. Before the study in the US, Ms. Wang earned a Bachelor of Music at Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China.

 

As an active performing artist, Ms. Wang has won several awards. Her awards include the 1 st prize of Denis Jennings Flute Competition professional division, 1st prize of the Golden Classical Music Awards, winner of Texas Tech University Concerto Competition 2021, 3 nd prize of the North International Music Competition chamber division, Honored Performance Award in the 5th and 3 rd National Percussion
and Woodwind Instrument Competition held by the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

As an educator, Dr. Wang has been teaching flute since 2008. Before her doctoral program, she was the flute instructor at the Hillsborough School District, CA. She also gives private lessons to beginner and advanced students preparing for auditions, Certificate of Merit, and ABRSM exams. Her student won the Branch The honor of CM exams in 2018 and 2019. Ms. Wang’s philosophy in music education has engaged students by including knowledge of music theory when making musical decisions. In addition, she believes students learn better when performing with their peers and collaborating.
